SUMMARY:New Forest Treasure Hunt
DESCRIPTION:We are holding a treasure hunt in the New Forest on Sunday 9th June starting at The Sir Walter Tyrrell Pub and finishing at The Bell Inn\, both in Brook\, Near Lyndhurst.  It will be a relaxed drive (not a race!!) with several stops to search for clues.  Please meet at the Sir Walter Tyrrell Pub at 2pm for the briefing (or earlier if you fancy Sunday lunch there).  The treasure hunt will start at 2.30pm and is expected to finish at The Bell Inn by about 5.30-6.00pm.  We will have a prize giving and group dinner at The Bell Inn from 6.00pm onwards. \nA briefing pack with the route\, clues and answer sheet will be provided but please have a pen or pencil available.  It will be important for each car to have a navigator so that there are no distractions for the driver.  Please be prepared to do some pairing so that there is a minimum of two people in each car. \nPlease register for this event with Julian Pickering (email: wessex@bmwcarclubgb.co.uk) as soon as possible but no later than Friday 7 June so that the briefing packs and dinner reservations can be finalised.  The Bell Inn have asked for food pre-ordering\, so I will send out a menu when you register.

SUMMARY:Wheel Refurbishment Visit
DESCRIPTION:We are invited to a private open morning at The Wheel Specialist\, Ferndown on Saturday 6th April\, starting at 10am.  Hot drinks\, bacon rolls and biscuits will be provided.  There will be a demonstration of powder coating refurbishment and diamond cutting.  Experts will be available with whom you can discuss any concerns or improvement plans you may have for your wheels.  Also\, a discount will be offered to those attending (possibly about 10%) if you want to place an order for The Wheel Specialist to do work for you.  There will also be a professional photographer present. \nWe are not organising a lunch afterwards but we can arrange this on the day if there is interest.

SUMMARY:Wessex Weekend Tour 2
DESCRIPTION:The Wessex Weekend Tour 2 at Portland in Dorset is now approaching.  It is on the weekend of 7th – 8th October 2023\, with accommodation and a private dinner at the Heights Hotel (https://www.heightshotel.com) for the Saturday night.  The hotel still has about 10 double rooms available\, so please book quickly if you would like to join us.  Call the Hotel Reception on 01305 821361 quoting “BMW Car Club” to reserve a room. \nWessex Weekend Tour 1 in Weston-super-Mare was great fun and we are looking to replicate this\, so please book a room at The Heights while you still can.  The total cost for the overnight stay in a standard double room is £84 per person including the Wessex Region dinner on the Saturday night and a full Dorset breakfast on Sunday morning.  There is an extra charge of £35 for single room occupancy.  The hotel also offers more expensive double rooms as an option: Garden View rooms at an extra £20 per room and more spacious rooms at an extra £30 per room.  You can also book extra nights if you wish to extend your stay – please discuss this directly with the hotel. \nThe programme for the weekend is as follows: \nSaturday \n\nMeet at Orchard Café\, West Holme Farm\, Wareham\, BH20 6AQ at 9.30am but latest 10.00am.  Leave Café by 10.15am.\nVisit Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door during drive along the Jurassic Coast.\nArrive at The Lobster Pot Restaurant\, Portland Bill Road\, DT5 2JT by 12.30pm (this time is important) for lunch and transfer to Portland Bill Lighthouse visitor centre for 3pm.  We will have a guided tour (£7.50 per person) to include a visit to the lantern deck and the Visitor Centre.\nLeave Lighthouse and check-in at Heights Hotel by 5pm (or earlier if people want to make their own way there).\nDinner at Heights at 7.30pm with drinks at 7pm.\n\n  \nSunday \n\nBreakfast at Heights.  Leave for Tank Museum\, Linsay Road\, Bovington\, BH20 6JG at 10am or spend free time in Portland Bill or Weymouth.\nOptional lunch meet at 1pm at a pub to be decided or make your own way home.\n\nPlease let Julian Pickering know via email wessex@bmwcarclubgb.co.uk when you have made a booking at the hotel and are joining the tour.

SUMMARY:Wessex Technical Evening
DESCRIPTION:A second Wessex Technical Evening will take place at the Sir Walter Tyrrell Pub in Brook (near Lyndhurst) on Wednesday 1st February\, starting at 7pm.  It will replace the February Bournemouth club night.  If you are planning to have a meal at the pub\, please aim to arrive at about 6pm as we want to conclude all meals before the start of the technical presentations at 7pm.  This was a very enjoyable and educational evening in 2022 with expert speakers and a valuable question and answer session after the presentations. \nFor the 2023 evening we are fortunate to have the following two expert speakers:- \n\nColin Ware\, manager of Kustom Kolors\, Christchurch (website) – expert painting and bodywork refinishers.\nJames Robinson\, manager of Bromspec Motorworks\, Lopcombe (website) – experts in all BMW and Mini mechanical work.\n\nBoth Colin and James are very well known to our members and have looked after many BMWCC Wessex Region cars.  It is very kind of them to give up their time to speak to us so please show your support for what will be an excellent evening.
