DESCRIPTION:Our next monthly breakfast meeting will be on Sunday 10th July 2022. We meet from 10.00am to 11.30am at Black Horse Beamish\, Red Row\, Beamish\, Co. Durham\, DH9 0RW. Please be there for 10am prompt if you want to join the buffet breakfast. The Black Horse Beamish is just a short distance off the A1 so is easy to get to and has plenty of parking. We usually have a good variety of Alpinas and BMWs – classics\, moderns\, daily drivers and a scattering of Ms. Non-BMWs are also OK! Look for the big group somewhere in the pub building\, or hanging around the cars down by the Car Barn on a sunny day. This meeting is open to members and non-members.

Turn right in Great Staughton onto the B645. Kimbolton is three miles beyond Great Staughton. From the south on the A1: Leave the A1 westbound on the B645 just north of St Neots signposted Rushden. Once on the B645\, Kimbolton is clearly signed and is reached after approximately six miles. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom the north on the M1 via the A14: Leave the M1 at Junction 19 and join the A14 travelling east bypassing Kettering and Thrapston. At the junction with the B660\, signposted Catworth and Bedford\, turn south. Continue for four miles through Catworth. The B660 meets the B645 in Kimbolton. At the T-junction turn right for the Preparatory School and left for the Senior School.  From the south on the M1 via the A45: Leave the M1 at Junction 15 and join the A45 bypassing Northampton\, Wellingborough and Rushden. At Rushden follow the signs for Bedford on the A6. After travelling one mile on the A6 towards Bedford turn left on the B645 signposted Kimbolton. DESCRIPTION:The 8 Series register \nI have booked an E31 club place at the Rotary Cars in the Park event in Beacon Park\, Lichfield\, Staffordshire\, WS13 6RA for Saturday 2nd July 2022.  Rotary Cars in the Park is organised by the Rotary Club of Lichfield St Chad in association with Lichfield Round Table and attracts up to 2\,000 cars and in excess of 20\,000 visitors. The money raised from the event is distributed between local\, national and international good causes. \nI have initially booked spaces for 15 cars as we had that number of attendees last year\, we hope to get as many again this year. SUMMARY:BMWs at Classics at the Castle
DESCRIPTION:The BMW Car Club has been invited Durham Automobile Club’s Classic Car Show at Witton Castle on Sunday 26th June. The show ground at Witton Castle is in excellent condition with the grass cut short. In the last few years the show has attracted around 300 cars. The Mercedes-Benz and TVR Clubs have already entered and several others about to enter. The organiser will waive the entry fee of £6.00 per car for the show for BMWCCGB members. The show is open to cars of all ages. Billy’s were very helpful and supportive of our meeting but the available space is not ideal. \nWe look forward to seeing you soon\, next monthly meet is Sunday June 26th 08:30-11:30.

Its a journey of 15 miles from Chipping Norton via A44. \nFrom Broadway Tower we then drive onto Chipping Camden 10 min (5.4mi) via B4081 – proper Cotswold Beauty Drive. At Chipping Camden there is plenty to see as it’s an interesting Cotswold Town. I suggest we end up at the Cotswold House Hotel & Spa Upper High Street The Square\, Chipping Campden GL55 6AN for tea/refreshments and importantly has a decent garden! \nShould be a great day out and suitable for partners and friends. SUMMARY:3 Series Munich Trip 2022
DESCRIPTION:This event had to be postponed from 2020. The trip is capped at 20 participants and Autofahrt Munich is due to take place in June 2022 as follows; \nSunday 12 June 2022 (Day 1)\nThe tour starts from either Hull\, Newcastle or Harwich\, arriving in Rotterdam\, Amsterdam or Hook of Holland respectively the following morning after taking an overnight ferry. \nMonday 13 June (Day 2)\nMeet at E&R Classics by 12am (around 60-80 miles from all of the Dutch ports to here). Reserved BMW parking at the showroom and a light lunch at the ER Classics showroom (a fantastic venue for any car enthusiast). The lunch will also serve as a ‘meet and greet’ and first briefing. \n \nDrive to Rüdesheim via the Rhine Valley. \n \nThe hotel is right in town\, with good parking. The hotel this evening is B&B only\, everyone can go out and explore the town and riverfront in the evening. \nTuesday 14 June (Day 3)\nAfter breakfast\, we will head straight onto the road\, with a choice of scenic routes to the ‘Romantic Road’\, before taking a very leisurely afternoon stopping in the towns along the ‘Romantic Road’. Plant Regensburg assembles the 1 Series\, 2 Series Gran Tourer\, 4 Series convertible\, M4 convertible\, X1 and X2. In the past it was the birthplace of most E30s\, E36s and E46s. \n \nAfter the tour we drive to Munich where we will be staying for two nights at the hotel on B&B basis only. Again in the evening either relax in the hotel beer garden or head into Munich City centre. \n \nFriday 17 June (Day 6)\nBlast along the Autobahns to Sinsheim for lunchtime. Afternoon in Sinsheim Technik Museum. Lunch at museum café (not included in tour cost). \nClose by is our hotel for the night\, set on a man-made lake\, hopefully if the weather is nice we can arrange a meal on the hotel terrace\, if not a meal in the hotel. DESCRIPTION:From a members’ vote\, it has been decided that the Beaulieu Marina BBQ on Wednesday 1st June will be the Wessex 70th Anniversary Party to celebrate BMWCC’s birthday.  It is a beautiful location with a lovely view over the Beaulieu River and the following day is a public holiday\, so you have no excuse not to get out your BMW or Alpina and join us for what should be an excellent evening.  We are planning some special festivities\, including a display of cars through the generations.  We currently have over 350 registered members of Wessex Region\, so let’s have a record turnout. \nThe cost will be £6/head\, payable on the night\, and will include salads\, desserts and drinks (beer\, wine and non-alcoholic).  All we ask is that you bring your own food for cooking on the BBQ grills provided and cook it yourself.  So that we know how many people we are catering for\, please confirm your attendance to Eric Thompson (contact details below).

DESCRIPTION:  \nWe can all display our cars on Millenium Place which is a great showplace for the BMWCC . I know many of you have fine cars to proudly display and what better place than on the Millenium Place with the backdrop of the futuristic museum in the centre of Coventry the birthplace of the British Motor Industry. This is an opportunity not to be missed. \nThe Transport Museum is a gem with a fascinating collection of automobiles and bikes plus the story of the woman who solved the Spitfires problems in 1940 which occurred when diving. All great stuff. Now\, the CTM have recently introduced entry charges to the Museum but are willing to offer discounted tickets. To this I need to know members who are coming and who wish to visit the onsite Museum\, so an RSVP please\, to central@bmwccgb.co.uk….asap. \nMembers not permitted to clean Car when on site; this includes wheels.  All Cars will have drip trays or absorbent materials for oil (if any) and water leaks. To be placed under car Radiator/Engine and including rear Axle. There should be two marshals on site by 10am to assist in display parking – 5mph or less is maximum speed limit. SUMMARY:Holy Island
DESCRIPTION:May’s event is a run through the beautiful North-Northumberland’s un-spoilt landscape including hopping across St. Oswald’s Way\, across Hadrian’s Wall and the Northumberland 250 route. Meet at 9:45 for a 10:00 departure at Wentworth car park\, NE46 1RN. We start in Hexham a beautiful town with a nice history\, then going through Hadrian’s wall (I mean we go over it) and off North-Easterly towards Alnwick via Rothbury. Along the way you go past two outstanding National Trust properties\, Wallington Hall – watch out for the gargoyles\, and Cragside- home to some of the most beautiful natural woodlands (you may even see some red squirrels). From there you will climb up Cordy Crags\, this is a beautiful stretch of road looking Northwest towards the Cheviot’s and over to Scotland. This part of the route is also famous\, as it was used as a movie poster\, in The Hobbit\, the question is can you spot it? From there through Alnwick- home to Hogwarts\, over The Lion Bridge on to the A1 and then up to “Barn at Beal” for lunch. After lunch you can then make your way across the causeway (open until 19:20) to the Island\, or you can make your own plans to explore more of the area. Whatever you do\, this trip is one not to be missed and we look forward to seeing everyone at the start! “Gan Canny.”

DESCRIPTION:This event is being staged in memory of our good friend Ray Powell\, who sadly passed away over 2 years ago.  The event has been delayed because of COVID restrictions.  Ray was very passionate about steam engines and therefore it is fitting for us to make a trip on the Swanage Steam Railway in his honour. \nThe day will start at 9am at The Pure Drop pub\, Ferndown\, departing at 9.45am for the station at Norden (by Corfe Castle).  We are planning to catch the train at 10.40am\, arriving at Swanage at 11.02am.  We will then spend some time in Swanage (a visit to the pier is recommended – a favourite of Ray’s)\, where a fish and chip lunch can be bought\, before catching the train back to Norden at 3pm.  We will be back at Norden at 3.22pm\, when the day will end\, although there may be some candidates for a cream tea nearby??? \nThe cost of the train is £17 return per person but if we get a group of 15 or more signed up and pay in advance this reduces to £12.  Please confirm your willingness to attend ASAP to Eric Thompson so that we can take advantage of the reduced fare.
