SUMMARY:Riviera Classic Car Show
DESCRIPTION:A popular annual show which takes place on the north section of Paignton Green\, alongside the beach and Paignton Pier. Entries are filling up rapidly. As mentioned previously on our WhatsApp and facebook pages\, we are not going to be attending as a club\, but individual members can book and make their arrangements to park together. \nINFORMATION FROM THE WEBSITE: \n​TOWC organises the Riviera Classic Car Show in late July every year on the first Sunday of the Paignton Festival\, which lasts for 9 days.  The Festival was formerly called Torbay Carnival and has been held since 1908. It was given its new name in 2016 and still includes the Torbay Carnival procession on the Wednesday evening. The show is an important part of the Festival week and was first held by us in 1994. It raises funds for the Festival\, which are used entirely to support local charities and community organisations. In 2022 we were proud to donate £7\,000\, bringing the running total raised to well over £66\,000. Amazingly\, almost half of this has been since 2016. \nWith the current layout the show is more a part of the Festival than ever.  The display of fabulous vehicles is complemented by stage entertainment through the day\, food outlets\, a craft marquee and licensed bar.  We’re still able to accommodate around 400 vehicles and the result is a unique event which has developed its own very special relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  Such is its popularity that we now have exhibitors bringing their vehicles from over much of England and South Wales\, and bookings for spaces are full some months in advance.  Some of our entries are individuals\, whilst we also have clubs taking their own stand spaces. The range of vehicles is something to behold.  There are a few rare examples from the early part of the 1900s\, lots of classics from the 50s to 70s or even a bit later.  There’s also a sprinkling of modern custom and supercars\, commercial vehicles\, scooters and motorbikes. \nThe show site is right at the heart of one of the most popular and busiest parts of Torbay and is always enjoyed by families on holiday as well as locals who make a point of visiting us every year. With so much to see and do\, it’s a great day out for all the family. \nWe can fit in almost 400 vehicles but the show’s popularity means it’s always over-subscribed. Entry Packs are available by clicking this link\, it will take you to the downloads page. \nWe do sometimes find that we have a few spare spaces on the day.  We can never guarantee this\, but if so then we will accept some late entries.  All exhibitors are given a rally programme and a small memento to show our appreciation.  \nThe cut-off age for exhibits is 1993 with the exception of cars in the Americans and Custom/Exotic classes\, and clubs.  All entries are accepted at the discretion of the organisers.  A minimum of 5 vehicles is needed for a club stand and we recommend block applications for this. \nFor safety reasons\, drivers must be on site before 10 am and not leave until the show closes after the prize giving around 4.30 pm. DESCRIPTION:We will have our semi-regular Kielder Picnic drive out on Sunday 23rd July.\nWe will meet at Hexham in the car park for the Wentworth Leisure Centre and Waitrose (NE46 3PJ)\, just off Alemouth Road\, at 10:00 for a 10:30 departure.The route will be supplied at the starting point. The run will then follow scenic roads to Kielder Water. At Kielder Water we will stop at one of the large car parks for a picnic. There are large lakeside grass areas so bring your own food and drinks\, and any equipment such as picnic blankets\, chairs etc. There is a restaurant at the lakeside which you can use instead – please make your own table arrangements and bookings directly with the restaurant.

DESCRIPTION:The annual Sherborne Classic and Supercar Sunday is just 3 weeks away (16 July) and we are on track for another bumper display. Last year we had 40 cars on our stand\, with 30 from Wessex and 10 from our South Wales colleagues . We are doing the same this year but I only have a few tickets available. \nBefore we advertise wider I want Wessex members to have first dibs. A ticket is £15 and gets you\, your car and occupants into the display field\, which is adjacent to the castle and it’s stunning grounds. There will be many other car clubs and individual entries covering most marques\, some trade stands and catering so all in all it makes for a great family day out. \nPlease contact me directly if you would like a ticket.

DESCRIPTION:Our next monthly breakfast meeting will be on Sunday 9th July 2023. We meet from 10.00am to 11.30am at Black Horse Beamish\, Red Row\, Beamish\, Co. Durham\, DH9 0RW. Please be there for 10am prompt if you want to join the buffet breakfast. The Black Horse Beamish is just a short distance off the A1 so is easy to get to and has plenty of parking. We usually have a good variety of Alpinas and BMWs – classics\, moderns\, daily drivers and a scattering of Ms. Non-BMWs are also OK! Look for the big group somewhere in the pub building\, or hanging around the cars down by the Car Barn on a sunny day. This meeting is open to members and non-members.

DESCRIPTION:The 3 Series Register is delighted that following the successful club tour to Munich in 2022\, another tour to Holland and Bimmerfest will run in June 2023. This tour is open to all club members and all club cars. The tour is once again managed by Scenic Car Tours. By booking and paying your deposit now you lock in the costs and protect yourself against inflation and exchange rate fluctuations. The tour is designed without long drives to keep fuel costs reasonable – most cars will complete the tour on a single tank of fuel. \nDay 1 – Friday 09 June 2023 \nThe tour starts from either Hull\, Newcastle or Harwich\, arriving in Rotterdam\, Amsterdam or Hook of Holland respectively the following morning after taking an overnight ferry. Other crossings can also be arranged via Scenic Car Tours. \nRelax\, enjoy a drink and evening meal (not included in tour cost) and get a good night’s sleep in your cabin on the ferry \n \nDay 2 – Saturday 10 June \nBreakfast on ferry (not included in tour cost) \nApprox 1 hour drive to The Hague. The collection is housed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague\, the city where P.W. Louwman established his Dodge and Chrysler import company. The building\, designed by American architect Michael Graves\, blends in sympathetically with its historic surroundings. The landscape gardens\, designed by Dutchman Lodewijk Baljon\, complement the architecture of the building. \nPlease free to explore the museum at your own pace. At 12:30 we meet for a light lunch and the tour Meet and Greet and first briefing. We will have reserved BMW parking\, and museum entry and lunch is included in the tour price. \n \nAfter exploring the museum drive (approx. 1.5 hours) to Den Bosch and the tour hotel\, Fletcher Hotel (Burgemeester Burgerslaan 50\, 5245 NH Rosmalen). \nIn the evening we will head into Den Bosch for evening meal (not included in tour cost). We can either drive and park in the centre or take a taxi. If you wish to make use of the excellent Dutch cycling infrastructure e-bikes can be hired from the hotel for €25 – contact the hotel in advance if you wish to reserve an e-bike. There are many restaurants in the Centre of Den Bosch. Korte Putstraat is a good street to start with. \n \nDay 3 – Sunday 11 June \nWe need to leave the hotel early as we want to arrive at Bimmerfest “largest one day BMW event in Europe” at approximately 8am to beat the queues. The hotel will supply us a takeaway breakfast box/takeaway hot drinks from 6:30am (included in tour cost). \nAt 6:45am we will have the second tour briefing\, followed by departure at approximately 7am for the 1 hour drive to Bimmerfest at Raceway Venray (Peelweg 47\, 5813 AD Ysselsteyn). \nThe BMW Car Club GB has booked a stand for Bimmerfest\, and tickets and paddock cards are included in the tour cost. Bimmerfest is one of the biggest BMW shows globally attracting well over 2000 cars from all over Europe. A number of the 750MC championships will be in attendance including Alfa Romeo\, Club Enduro\, Sport Specials\, Sports 100 FT Cup 200 and of course BMW Car Club Racing. \nTickets are not yet on sale\, but it is good to start building enthusiasm for the event. \nThe Club will be looking for help with set-up\, marshalling and set-down on the day. This will take a few hours\, and in return we are planning to provide free entry for volunteers. If you are interested in helping\, please contact me via devon@bmwcarclubgb.co.uk and I will co-ordinate with Club Office. \nParking – the plan is for cars to be parked according to the decade in which the model was first released. SUMMARY:Killhope Lead Mine Visit
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday May 28th for a visit to the Killhope Lead Mining Museum. After a leisurely drive through Weardale we will aim to arrive at the Museum for 11:30 – 12 noon where we will have a light lunch in the café then proceed to our group guided tour of the Museum which has been booked for approximately 1pm-1:30pm\nFor those who wish to experience life as a lead miner there is an optional underground tour included.\nWe will meet at the Linzford Garden Centre on the A694 just south west of Newcastle at 9:45-10:00 am for a 10:15 departure\nEntry to the museum is free and there is a café on site or you can bring a picnic. Underground groups are limited to 12-14 people so I need to know who wants to go underground and also it will be useful to know who would like to have lunch at the café. Those wishing to go on the underground tour must bring your own full length wellies!!
