Look for the big group somewhere in the pub building\, or hanging around the cars down by the Car Barn on a sunny day. This meeting is open to members and non-members.

SUMMARY:Wessex Weekend Tour 2
DESCRIPTION:The Wessex Weekend Tour 2 at Portland in Dorset is now approaching.  It is on the weekend of 7th – 8th October 2023\, with accommodation and a private dinner at the Heights Hotel (https://www.heightshotel.com) for the Saturday night.  The hotel still has about 10 double rooms available\, so please book quickly if you would like to join us.  Call the Hotel Reception on 01305 821361 quoting “BMW Car Club” to reserve a room. \nWessex Weekend Tour 1 in Weston-super-Mare was great fun and we are looking to replicate this\, so please book a room at The Heights while you still can.  The total cost for the overnight stay in a standard double room is £84 per person including the Wessex Region dinner on the Saturday night and a full Dorset breakfast on Sunday morning.  There is an extra charge of £35 for single room occupancy.  The hotel also offers more expensive double rooms as an option: Garden View rooms at an extra £20 per room and more spacious rooms at an extra £30 per room.  You can also book extra nights if you wish to extend your stay – please discuss this directly with the hotel. \nThe programme for the weekend is as follows: \nSaturday \n\nMeet at Orchard Café\, West Holme Farm\, Wareham\, BH20 6AQ at 9.30am but latest 10.00am.  Leave Café by 10.15am.\nVisit Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door during drive along the Jurassic Coast.\nArrive at The Lobster Pot Restaurant\, Portland Bill Road\, DT5 2JT by 12.30pm (this time is important) for lunch and transfer to Portland Bill Lighthouse visitor centre for 3pm.  We will have a guided tour (£7.50 per person) to include a visit to the lantern deck and the Visitor Centre.\nLeave Lighthouse and check-in at Heights Hotel by 5pm (or earlier if people want to make their own way there).\nDinner at Heights at 7.30pm with drinks at 7pm.\n\n  \nSunday \n\nBreakfast at Heights.  Leave for Tank Museum\, Linsay Road\, Bovington\, BH20 6JG at 10am or spend free time in Portland Bill or Weymouth.\nOptional lunch meet at 1pm at a pub to be decided or make your own way home.\n\nPlease let Julian Pickering know via email wessex@bmwcarclubgb.co.uk when you have made a booking at the hotel and are joining the tour.

DESCRIPTION:I thought we would put on another breakfast meeting to round off the main summer season. Location will be that of our regular meetings\, the Victoria Inn at Roche\, PL26 8LQ.Breakfast will be from approximately 9am until late morning\, after which those who want to are invited to convoy down to St Austell to attend the Truro Motor Club hillclimb at Tregrehan Gardens. DESCRIPTION:Historic Rally Festival at Weston Park\n\nWe have been invited to exhibit at the Historic Rally Festival on Sat 30th Sept/Sun 1st Oct. The Historic Rally Festival is an event based on Rally Cars from the 1960’s to 2009 including the infamous banned Group B cars.\nYou will have the opportunity to come along for a single day or the full weekend. DESCRIPTION:In September it is planned to hold a regional “Scatter Hunt”. and I need to gauge interest before going too deep with the implementation\nA combination of our well like treasure hunt and the Navigation Scatter Rallies held back in the 90’s. This is new style event tailored to cope with modern technology and take advantage of our breathtaking county\nThe basic task is to solve a series of clues provided prior to the day of the event which will allow you to plot points on a map of Northumberland. You then need to plan a route to visit these clue points and find the answers\nBecause of the scale of the county it will be impossible to visit every clue site in a day (unless you are really dedicated) so you must select those which you can solve and think will obtain the most points\nThe event is ideally suited to teams of members as this will increase the clue solving brain power and allow people to share a car and fuel and even the driving if required.\nThis gives everyone the opportunity to have fun and also see the scenery\nA Trophy will be awarded for the team with the most points and awards will be added accordingly for various categories\nThe hard core competitors amongst you may wish to set off bright and early and do a full day of treasure hunting\, but the plan is to offer less arduous routes for those wishing to do just half a day .\nIn theory it will even be possible to do the whole thing from the comfort of your lounge although you won’t get points for taking photos at the locations\nThe event will be open to all Club Members so teams from other regions are welcome to apply\nIn order to finalise the plans and start making up the Scatter Hunt instruction packs. DESCRIPTION:This event will be start at the Fox and Goose Pub\, Blandford Road\, Coombe Bissett\, SP5 4LE.  The event will start with coffee at the pub at 10am with a departure for the drive at 10.45am.  The drive details are as follows: \n\nAt the Fox and Goose\, reset your mileage trip.  There is a community speed camera run by the locals at Coombe Bissett so beware!!!\nFrom the pub car park turn right.  300 yards turn left signed Stratford Tony.\nPassing the entrance to Gurston Down Hill climb circuit\, then at 6.1 miles turn right signed Fovant.\n8.5 miles T junction turn right onto A30 towards Fovant.  Through Fovant are two viewing lay-bys\, one on the left the other opposite.  The military cap badges are not at their best and are awaiting refurbishment but still are worth stopping to view.  To see their history check out the website https://fovantbadges.com.\nCarry on the A30 and through the village of Wilton.  At the large traffic island turn right onto the A36 signed Salisbury.\nAt the traffic lights turn right towards Bournemouth/ Ringwood.\nIn about half a mile turn right towards Salisbury Race Course ( the turning is on a sharp left hand bend). Drive past the Race Course to a T junction then turn left.\nAt the next T junction turn right and The Fox and Goose is on your left.\n\nMartin Hockey has organised the drive and will issue copies of the driving directions on the day.  The drive is about 20 miles and will take approximately 1 hour. \n
