SUMMARY:Historic Vehicle Gathering at Powderham Castle - UPDATED 1/7/24
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE 1/7/24 – THE VEHICLE PASSES AND WRISTBANDS HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED TO THOSE ATTENDING. \nOur local big event of the year returns on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of July in the stunning setting of the grounds of Powderham Castle. Let us hope that the weather is kinder than in 2023. \nWe will be attending as a club and I have requested the same pitch and capacity as last year. The tickets are £17 which covers 1 car\, 1 driver and 1 passenger for either or both days. Camping for the Friday and Saturday night is £40 including entrance. \nIt will be open to the public from 10:00-17:00 so we will need to be there around 09:00 to set up the car display etc. We will try to theme our display\, so please abide the request of whoever is marshalling the display. \nWe expect to be hosting our neighbouring Cornwall and Western Regions. \nHelp in setting up the marquee on Friday the 12th will be welcomed. The conditions of entry are shown below. \n \n  \n

We usually have a good variety of Alpinas\, BMWs and Modern Minis – classics\, moderns\, daily drivers and a scattering of Ms. Non-BMWs are also OK! Look for the big group somewhere in the pub building\, or hanging around the cars down by the Car Barn on a sunny day. This meeting is open to members and non-members.

DESCRIPTION:Midnight and Fiona would like to take you for a run up the River Coquet\, starting at the sea (Amble) and heading inland to near the source at Alwitton. The run will see you follow the river through villages like\, Felton\, Rothbury and Harbottle and finally reaching Clennell Hall NE65 7BG\, where a lovely Sunday lunch will be provided at £20 for three courses. We will be meeting at the Amble Inn\, NE65 OFF at 10 am for a 10:15 departure. Please note a few things\, route will depend on road closures\, some roads are off the beaten track\, we may be stopping in Rothbury for photos/regroup and finally\, four legged friends and children are welcome!

DESCRIPTION:Another car show in Exmouth\, this time the one we attended last year\, to be held at the Recreation Ground on Sunday 11th August. Although we will be attending we may be splitting ourselves between this and the North Devon Festival of Transport. The following is from the email they sent me: \nI thought I would email you to let you know that the annual Exmouth Classic Vehicle Show will be returning on Sunday 11th August 2024 following a successful last year which saw in excess of 250 vehicles on display and £2\,330 raised for Devon Air Ambulance through voluntary donations.Organised by the Morris Minor Owners Club Devon Branch and the Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club\, this annual event will take place from 10am until 4PM. As in previous years\, there is no entry fee to pay and no need to book in – although it will be helpful if the organisers can know in advance if you would like a pitch reserved for a car club display. The event will also be looking to collect for local charity in the official collecting buckets and they also hope to have in excess of 200 vehicles on display.

DESCRIPTION:There have been several requests for Wessex Weekend Tour 3 to be located on the Isle of Wight.  The Mayfair Hotel in Shanklin on the East of the island has been pre-booked\, which is in a prime location with lovely sea views.  Double/twin rooms cost £80 for the night including full English breakfasts. Single rooms are available (please request through me).  A 3-course dinner will be provided on Saturday evening at an additional cost of £20 per person.  I have applied to the club for a contribution towards these costs\, consistent with the new policy agreed at the AGM\, and I am awaiting a response. The Isle of Wight is very popular all year around and the ferries and hotels book up well in advance. I am able to hold a good number of rooms at the hotel just now but I cannot influence ferry bookings. The hotel are not asking for a deposit but they need a commitment.  Please contact me with your room and dinner choices with details of any allergies as soon as possible. However\, booking the ferry is more urgent.
