SUMMARY:Route 66 - Let’s go west!
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday 24th October 2021 we will head along the Route 66 to visit Cumbria! \nWe will meet at the Scotch Corner Services at Middleton Tyas (Junction of A1 and A66\, Middleton Tyas Lane\, Richmond DL10 6PQ) for 09:30 with a view to setting off by 10:00am latest. The route will take us across the A66 West through rolling hills\, farmland and rugged fells before turning South West at Brough onto the A685\, through the picturesque market Town of Kirkby Stephen and following the route of the river Lune through the remote Lune Valley\, arriving at Tebay services for a quick rest stop for 10 minutes. Then travel west on the A590 to the Lakeland Motor Museum at Old Blue Mill\, Backbarrow\, Ulverston LA12 8TA. Explore the fascinating collection of over 30\,000 exhibits that trace the development of road transport throughout the twentieth century – cycles\, motorbikes\, motor cars and automobilia. A highlight is\, housed in its own unique building\, the Campbell Bluebird Exhibition which is a tribute to the racing career of Sir Malcolm and Donald Campbell. This includes full sized replicas of the 1935 Blue Bird car\, 1939 Blue Bird Boat K4 and 1967 jet hydroplane Bluebird K7. Housed in a converted mill in the heart of the Lake District it’s much more than just a motor museum\, their local history and period shopping displays\, authentic recreations and picturesque riverside cafe makes it a fascinating day out. We can have lunch together in their excellent cafe on site before the rest of the afternoon can be spent roaming the vast collection before saying our farewells at closing time around 4:00pm. This event is open to members and non-members.

SUMMARY:BMWs at Beamish
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 19 September – NECPWA End Of Season Show at Beamish Museum. We will have a club stand again this year at this great show that offers both a great variety of cars and the whole of the Beamish Museum to enjoy. You will need to visit www.necpwa.org and download a Tyneside Rally Season Ticket application. Cost is £5 per car (including driver and one passenger) and must be applied for before 01 September. This is significantly cheaper than the usual Beamish Museum entry charges. Unfortunately due to NECPWA and Beamish rules this is only open to pre September 2000 cars. If you have a newer car\, you could try hitching in with one of the classic BMWs attending. On the day we will meet in the Black Horse Beamish car park at 10:00am before driving over to the show at 10:15.

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a fabulous day in Durham on August Bank Holiday Monday\, when the heart of this historic Durham city is transformed and filled with vintage and classic cars. A great day out for the enthusiast\, yes\, but more than that\, it’s a great family day out with something for everyone. There will be over a hundred cars exhibited in the city centre – locations include Palace Green\, Durham Market Place\, Millennium Place and Framwellgate Bridge. It’s a great family day out in the heart of Durham – with a small street food market in the Market Place\, if you fancy refreshments. You need to have pre-registered with us to display your car on the BMW Car Club stand\, however it will still be a good day out with some great classic BMWs on show so come over and visit us.

DESCRIPTION:We are attending Sports Cars In The Park at Newby Hall again this year on Sunday 01 August. The show will be held at Newby Hall and is one the larger meets in the area attracting a fabulous range of about 1000 exotic sports cars to admire. There is also the option to visit Newby Hall itself\, 25 acres of award winning\, an enchanting woodland walk and a miniature railway. Younger visitors will also enjoy the exciting adventure gardens. There will also be a number of related stalls and catering on the day. \nDisplay cars can arrive from 8:15 until 12:00. Tickets for driver and displaying car are available from the SCITP website\, with each extra occupant costing extra. Display tickets are only sold in advance. Remember to select ‘BMW Car Club GB’ as part of the process\, or you may end up parked amongst Audis and Volkswagens.

SUMMARY:CANCELLED - BMWs at the Great North Classic Car Show
DESCRIPTION:Announcement from the Aston Workshop \nFollowing yesterday’s government announcement that the final stages of lockdown easing are to be delayed until 19th July\, we are sad to announce the cancellation of this year’s Great North Classic Car Show which was to take place on 3rd July 2021. Whilst we find this truly disappointing after so many months of planning\, as show organisers we have always been mindful that the event should only occur if safe to do so relative to the ongoing Covid-19 health crisis. We feel the continued strict control of large outdoor gatherings in the region is justified while the government’s vaccination programme continues amidst the increasing number of Covid-19 cases now largely attributed to the Delta variant. There is no justification for any event which potentially places the health of the North East people at unnecessary risk or adds to the pressure of hard-working NHS staff in the region. \nMany thanks for supporting the GNCCS. We look forward to hopefully seeing you all again here at Beamish Red Row safely in the future. Take care\, The GNCCS team.

SUMMARY:Kielder Picnic
DESCRIPTION:On 23 May we are having our first chance to meet up since last August on the Kielder Picnic in rural Northumberland. We will meet at 10:00 for a 10:30 departure. The run will start at 10:30am and participants should aim to be at the gathering point at 10:00. The run will then follow scenic roads to Kielder. At Kielder Water we will stop at one of the large car parks for a picnic. There are large lakeside grass areas so in addition to bringing your own food and drinks please bring along any picnic blankets\, chairs\, sun shades etc that you might need. After the picnic members are free to leave as/when and make your own way home. The detailed instructions will be emailed to all North East members a day or two beforehand.

SUMMARY:Cancelled - Southern Concours
DESCRIPTION:It is with much regret that unfortunately we will be cancelling this event as once again we are struck with COVID restrictions. \nAfter much deliberation we feel that the uncertainty of whether restrictions will be lifted does not allow us enough time to prepare for this event. We also do not wish to committ to any further costs for an event that may or may not happen or have poor attendance due to travel restrictions. It is very difficult and challenging for our committee to get involved with the organisational elements required to hold these events with the current lockdown restrictions in place. We take extreme pride in the events we organise and without the great team of volunteers who give up their time very generously they would not be able to go ahead. SUMMARY:East Coast 500 Treasure Hunt
DESCRIPTION:Simon and Greg are putting together a fully socially distanced car treasure hunt on Sunday 25th April. The East Coast 500 treasure hunt will follow a pre-planned route\, with the most Northerly point reaching Roker in Sunderland and the Southerly point will be in the Redcar area. \nWe would normally open an event like this to non-members\, however due to Covid we are running this as a BMWCCGB members only event.
