DESCRIPTION:We have been invited to attend the Durham Classic Car Show again this year and have been allocated Millenium Square in front of the Gala theatre for our club stand.\nAll BMWs pre 2002 are welcome but we would love to see any classic M cars with it being 50 years of M this year.\nWe are looking for around 15 cars to fill the allocated area. SUMMARY:Spain visits the North East
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday 03 August we will meet up with our colleagues from the Spanish E21/E30 club as their annual expedition comes to the UK. We will meet at The Badger\, Street Houses\, Ponteland Rd\, Ponteland\, Newcastle upon Tyne\, NE20 9BT at 17:00 for a quick bite to eat. Around 18:00 we will escort them up the A696 and the A68 to Carter Bar on the England/Scotland border\, where there is parking and great views of the hills. After a brief stop we will say goodbye to them as they continue on their way to Edinburgh. E21’s and E30’s are preferred\, however all BMWs are welcome to join.

SUMMARY:Test Your Eyesight Run – Sunday 24th July 2022
DESCRIPTION:We will meet at Premier Inn car park (W Auckland Rd\, Bishop Auckland\, DL14 9AP) at 10.30am for a 10.45am departure. We will then take a scenic route over the tops whilst enjoying the views before arriving at our stop to enjoy a Sunday lunch made with fine local produce at The Moorcock Inn\, Hill Top\, Eggleston. We then move on to visit The Carrosserie Company for a short tour of the classic car restoration business and chat with owner Neil. Then we head down towards the centre of Barnard Castle to test your eyesight on this leg of the journey before arriving at our final destination of Bowes Museum to park up just inside the gates for photos before heading into the museum for a look around if you wish. SUMMARY:BMWs at Classics at the Castle
DESCRIPTION:The BMW Car Club has been invited Durham Automobile Club’s Classic Car Show at Witton Castle on Sunday 26th June. The show ground at Witton Castle is in excellent condition with the grass cut short. In the last few years the show has attracted around 300 cars. The Mercedes-Benz and TVR Clubs have already entered and several others about to enter. The organiser will waive the entry fee of £6.00 per car for the show for BMWCCGB members. The show is open to cars of all ages. SUMMARY:Holy Island
DESCRIPTION:May’s event is a run through the beautiful North-Northumberland’s un-spoilt landscape including hopping across St. Oswald’s Way\, across Hadrian’s Wall and the Northumberland 250 route. Meet at 9:45 for a 10:00 departure at Wentworth car park\, NE46 1RN. We start in Hexham a beautiful town with a nice history\, then going through Hadrian’s wall (I mean we go over it) and off North-Easterly towards Alnwick via Rothbury. Along the way you go past two outstanding National Trust properties\, Wallington Hall – watch out for the gargoyles\, and Cragside- home to some of the most beautiful natural woodlands (you may even see some red squirrels). From there you will climb up Cordy Crags\, this is a beautiful stretch of road looking Northwest towards the Cheviot’s and over to Scotland. This part of the route is also famous\, as it was used as a movie poster\, in The Hobbit\, the question is can you spot it? From there through Alnwick- home to Hogwarts\, over The Lion Bridge on to the A1 and then up to “Barn at Beal” for lunch. After lunch you can then make your way across the causeway (open until 19:20) to the Island\, or you can make your own plans to explore more of the area. Whatever you do\, this trip is one not to be missed and we look forward to seeing everyone at the start! “Gan Canny.”

DESCRIPTION:We are attending Sports Cars In The Park at Newby Hall again this year on Sunday 08 May. The show will be held at Newby Hall and is one the larger meets in the area attracting a fabulous range of about 1000 exotic sports cars to admire. There is also the option to visit Newby Hall itself\, 25 acres of award winning\, an enchanting woodland walk and a miniature railway. Younger visitors will also enjoy the exciting adventure gardens. There will also be a number of related stalls and catering on the day. \nDisplay cars can arrive from 8:15 until 12:00. Tickets for driver and displaying car (£7:50) are available from the SCITP website\, with each extra occupant costing £7:50) extra. Display tickets are only sold in advance. DESCRIPTION:We are heading over to Cumbria for another run organised by John Rawsthorne on 24th April. Meet at the Lakeland Motor Museum\, Ulverston\, LA12 8TA in the car park opposite the museum (on the left if you are coming from the M6) at 10.30am for a 11.00am departure. \nFrom there we will be heading via Ulpha to Holmrook for a pub lunch. \nAfter we have eaten we will head over the Hard Knott and Wrynose Passes into the Little Langdale Valley where the run ends for a quiet drink of whatever you like before we split up. Total driving time about 2 ½ hours\, 60 miles.

SUMMARY:BMWCC Racing @ Croft
DESCRIPTION:BMW Car Club Racing series will be kicking off the first meet of the season at Croft on Saturday 9th April. The first BMW race is at 12:30pm and the second one shortly before 5pm. We will meet at Scotch Corner services at 10:30 am and grab a coffee\, before heading off for the short drive to the circuit at 11am. Once we get to the circuit\, we will set up near the scrutineering bay\, complete with our regional flags in time to have a chat to the drivers before their first race. It would be great to see as many people as we can from the North East and Eastern regions supporting our own club race series. The complimentary club members’ tickets are all taken\, however you will still be able to pay and enter on the gate. The weather at Croft can be unpredictable – come prepared for either end of the spectrum

DESCRIPTION:We will hold another Treasure Hunt on Sunday 27th February\, themed around bridges on the River Wear. Meet at the Wessington Way Sainsbury’s Car Park\,(Riverside Road\, Sunderland\, SR5 3JG) at 10:00. You will need a pen and a GPS navigator. Instructions\, clues and questions will be supplied at the starting point. The route will take you about 2½ hours\, and is designed to take us all to a suitable spot for a lunch meet at the end of the hunt. Scoring will take place later\, with winners announced on the following Monday. The event is open to members and non-members.

DESCRIPTION:Travel back in time and get a glimpse of what life was like onboard Europe’s oldest floating warship HMS Trincomalee at The National Museum of the Royal Navy in Hartlepool. \nhttps://youtu.be/Qu2V8-gtab4 \nWe will meet in McDonald’s car park \, Newton Park Services\, Newton Aycliffe DL1 3NL (just off the A1(M) at 10:15 for a 10:45 departure. There is then a scenic drive to Hartlepool\, route instructions will be supplied on the day. At Hartlepool we will park outside the museum entrance and get a group shot with the cars. Alternatively you can park at the Premier Inn if you want to avoid the 5-10 minute walk to the Brewers Fayre. We have booked the Brewers Fayre in Maritime Avenue at 12pm for a choice of standard or large carvery. Once you have paid you get a ticket to hand in\, queue up at the carvery station\, get your meat(s) then work your way along all the veg\, stuffing and gravy applying the old tradition of “defy Gravity” and “get It Back To The Table without making an arse of yourself”. \nBy 1:30pm ish we will head back to the museum.  You must pre-book tickets\, which cost £8:00 per person\, and are valid for twelve months. SUMMARY:Route 66 - Let’s go west!
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday 24th October 2021 we will head along the Route 66 to visit Cumbria! \nWe will meet at the Scotch Corner Services at Middleton Tyas (Junction of A1 and A66\, Middleton Tyas Lane\, Richmond DL10 6PQ) for 09:30 with a view to setting off by 10:00am latest. The route will take us across the A66 West through rolling hills\, farmland and rugged fells before turning South West at Brough onto the A685\, through the picturesque market Town of Kirkby Stephen and following the route of the river Lune through the remote Lune Valley\, arriving at Tebay services for a quick rest stop for 10 minutes. Then travel west on the A590 to the Lakeland Motor Museum at Old Blue Mill\, Backbarrow\, Ulverston LA12 8TA. Explore the fascinating collection of over 30\,000 exhibits that trace the development of road transport throughout the twentieth century – cycles\, motorbikes\, motor cars and automobilia. A highlight is\, housed in its own unique building\, the Campbell Bluebird Exhibition which is a tribute to the racing career of Sir Malcolm and Donald Campbell. This includes full sized replicas of the 1935 Blue Bird car\, 1939 Blue Bird Boat K4 and 1967 jet hydroplane Bluebird K7. Housed in a converted mill in the heart of the Lake District it’s much more than just a motor museum\, their local history and period shopping displays\, authentic recreations and picturesque riverside cafe makes it a fascinating day out. We can have lunch together in their excellent cafe on site before the rest of the afternoon can be spent roaming the vast collection before saying our farewells at closing time around 4:00pm. SUMMARY:BMWs at Beamish
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 19 September – NECPWA End Of Season Show at Beamish Museum. We will have a club stand again this year at this great show that offers both a great variety of cars and the whole of the Beamish Museum to enjoy. You will need to visit www.necpwa.org and download a Tyneside Rally Season Ticket application. Cost is £5 per car (including driver and one passenger) and must be applied for before 01 September. This is significantly cheaper than the usual Beamish Museum entry charges. Unfortunately due to NECPWA and Beamish rules this is only open to pre September 2000 cars. If you have a newer car\, you could try hitching in with one of the classic BMWs attending. On the day we will meet in the Black Horse Beamish car park at 10:00am before driving over to the show at 10:15.

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a fabulous day in Durham on August Bank Holiday Monday\, when the heart of this historic Durham city is transformed and filled with vintage and classic cars. A great day out for the enthusiast\, yes\, but more than that\, it’s a great family day out with something for everyone. There will be over a hundred cars exhibited in the city centre – locations include Palace Green\, Durham Market Place\, Millennium Place and Framwellgate Bridge. It’s a great family day out in the heart of Durham – with a small street food market in the Market Place\, if you fancy refreshments. You need to have pre-registered with us to display your car on the BMW Car Club stand\, however it will still be a good day out with some great classic BMWs on show so come over and visit us.

DESCRIPTION:We are attending Sports Cars In The Park at Newby Hall again this year on Sunday 01 August. The show will be held at Newby Hall and is one the larger meets in the area attracting a fabulous range of about 1000 exotic sports cars to admire. There is also the option to visit Newby Hall itself\, 25 acres of award winning\, an enchanting woodland walk and a miniature railway. Younger visitors will also enjoy the exciting adventure gardens. There will also be a number of related stalls and catering on the day. \nDisplay cars can arrive from 8:15 until 12:00. Tickets for driver and displaying car are available from the SCITP website\, with each extra occupant costing extra. Display tickets are only sold in advance. To get your tickets go to www.sportscarsinthepark.co.uk\, login and then click on ‘Tickets’. Remember to select ‘BMW Car Club GB’ as part of the process\, or you may end up parked amongst Audis and Volkswagens.
