SUMMARY:Exmouth Classic Car Show - Sunday 13th August
DESCRIPTION:The annual Exmouth Classic Vehicle Show will be be returning on Sunday 13th August 2023 following a successful gathering last year which saw in excess of 200 vehicles on display and £1\,235 raised through voluntary donations for the charities Devon Air Ambulance and Lucy’s Ambulance. \nOrganised by the Morris Minor Owners Club Devon Branch and the Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club\, this annual event will take place from 10am until 4PM. As in previous years\, there is no entry fee to pay and no need to book in. We hope to attend as a Club and will be reserving a pitch for a display. \nThe event will also be looking to collect for local charity in the official collecting buckets and they also hope to have in excess of 200 vehicles on display.

SUMMARY:Riviera Classic Car Show
DESCRIPTION:A popular annual show which takes place on the north section of Paignton Green\, alongside the beach and Paignton Pier. Entries are filling up rapidly. As mentioned previously on our WhatsApp and facebook pages\, we are not going to be attending as a club\, but individual members can book and make their arrangements to park together. \nINFORMATION FROM THE WEBSITE: \n​TOWC organises the Riviera Classic Car Show in late July every year on the first Sunday of the Paignton Festival\, which lasts for 9 days.  The Festival was formerly called Torbay Carnival and has been held since 1908. It was given its new name in 2016 and still includes the Torbay Carnival procession on the Wednesday evening. The show is an important part of the Festival week and was first held by us in 1994. It raises funds for the Festival\, which are used entirely to support local charities and community organisations. In 2022 we were proud to donate £7\,000\, bringing the running total raised to well over £66\,000. Amazingly\, almost half of this has been since 2016. \nWith the current layout the show is more a part of the Festival than ever.  The display of fabulous vehicles is complemented by stage entertainment through the day\, food outlets\, a craft marquee and licensed bar.  We’re still able to accommodate around 400 vehicles and the result is a unique event which has developed its own very special relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  Such is its popularity that we now have exhibitors bringing their vehicles from over much of England and South Wales\, and bookings for spaces are full some months in advance.  Some of our entries are individuals\, whilst we also have clubs taking their own stand spaces. The range of vehicles is something to behold.  There are a few rare examples from the early part of the 1900s\, lots of classics from the 50s to 70s or even a bit later.  There’s also a sprinkling of modern custom and supercars\, commercial vehicles\, scooters and motorbikes. \nThe show site is right at the heart of one of the most popular and busiest parts of Torbay and is always enjoyed by families on holiday as well as locals who make a point of visiting us every year. With so much to see and do\, it’s a great day out for all the family. \nWe can fit in almost 400 vehicles but the show’s popularity means it’s always over-subscribed. Entry Packs are available by clicking this link\, it will take you to the downloads page. \nWe do sometimes find that we have a few spare spaces on the day.  We can never guarantee this\, but if so then we will accept some late entries.  All exhibitors are given a rally programme and a small memento to show our appreciation.  \nThe cut-off age for exhibits is 1993 with the exception of cars in the Americans and Custom/Exotic classes\, and clubs.  All entries are accepted at the discretion of the organisers.  A minimum of 5 vehicles is needed for a club stand and we recommend block applications for this. \nFor safety reasons\, drivers must be on site before 10 am and not leave until the show closes after the prize giving around 4.30 pm. SUMMARY:BMW Sommerfest 2023 - Oulton Park
DESCRIPTION:BMW Sommerfest 2023 is to be held at Oulton Park Circuit on Saturday 3rd June 2023. \nUPDATED 6/4/23 \nThe show will be based in the circuit’s infield\, offering clear views over the track and the ongoing racing. At Oulton the paddock and cafeteria are also in the infield\, and all areas are closely connected together giving a more ‘compact’ feel than Donington. We will also be making use of the Fogarty Moss Conference and Meeting Complex\, providing an indoor location for the Club Office\, Merchandise\, Hospitality and display cars\, all with clear views over the race track. Along with the nearby Chequers Restaurant building this gives us a show location that can cope with unpredictable weather. \nThe Club is planning a Friday evening event for members and racers in the Chequers Restaurant and Bar.  The main part of the show will be on the Saturday\, featuring car displays\, traders\, BMW Car Club GB hospitality\, food vendors\, and races on track throughout the day. A number of the 750MC championships will be in attendance including Alfa Romeo\, Club Enduro\, Sport Specials\, Sports 100 FT Cup 200 and of course BMW Car Club Racing. \nTickets are not yet on sale\, but it is good to start building enthusiasm for the event. \nThe Club will be looking for help with set-up\, marshalling and set-down on the day. This will take a few hours\, and in return we are planning to provide free entry for volunteers. If you are interested in helping\, please contact me via devon@bmwcarclubgb.co.uk and I will co-ordinate with Club Office. \nParking – the plan is for cars to be parked according to the decade in which the model was first released. DESCRIPTION:UPDATE 22/5/23 – EVENT POSTPONED \nNotification received yesterday that the event has been postponed. The following is verbatim from the organiser’s email: \n“Having agonised over this decision over the last couple of days\, I feel that we have no option but to postpone the May 27th event. A number of people who had been invited as rally stars to the event have decided that they can not attend\, mainly due to M5 holiday traffic. Sadly\, also I had hoped that a larger number of local entrants would sign on\, but that hasn’t happened either. Ultimately\, the event\, in addition to being a fun run out for entrants\, is also an entertainment for spectators who pay to come\, 20 rally cars simply does not provide that entertainment. Thank you to those of you have put faith in our events and entered. \n\nCars coming to be displayed has not been a problem – thank you to everyone who had booked in to do that.  This decision has been very frustrating\, as the displays had promised to be very good\, the rally car “stars” have presented me with the problem.\n\nWe are talking to the Racecourse about a new date\, which we will discuss with potential entrants before confirming. However\, if you would simply like a refund now\, we will do that\, or transfer your entry to another Lombard Rally Festival over the summer.\n\nI am very sorry to have to make this decision\, but I really feel that I have no option.”

The following is an extract from their notification: \n“We are delighted to advise that we are once again holding our Merton Vintage & Classis Rally Around on \nSUNDAY 30TH APRIL 2023 (as usual\, on the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend). Fingers crossed the weather will be kinder \nto us this year.\nLast year\, we were delighted with the attendance\, and despite us all getting rather wet we were able to raise a total of £4450\nwhich was divided equally between our chosen charities: The North Devon Hospice and The Devon Air Ambulance. \nWe very much look forward to another enjoyable day enabling you to show your exhibit and have the opportunity to catch up \nwith old friends. This year we are again going to raise funds for the same two very important local Charities in memory of \nChris Laughton and all our friends and loved ones who sadly we have lost along the way.\nRemember to make a note in your diary and on your calendars ………………… SUNDAY 30th APRIL 2023.\nPlease note that all communications this year will be by email only\, due to high costs regrettably we are unable to continue \nusing the post for our fundraising mailings. \nThis event will be from 11am – 5pm and we are inviting you to bring along your amazing exhibit for everyone to see. DESCRIPTION:It is with much regret that unfortunately we will be cancelling this event as once again we are struck with COVID restrictions. \nAfter much deliberation we feel that the uncertainty of whether restrictions will be lifted does not allow us enough time to prepare for this event. We also do not wish to committ to any further costs for an event that may or may not happen or have poor attendance due to travel restrictions. It is very difficult and challenging for our committee to get involved with the organisational elements required to hold these events with the current lockdown restrictions in place. We take extreme pride in the events we organise and without the great team of volunteers who give up their time very generously they would not be able to go ahead.
