DESCRIPTION:For 2025 Autofahrt will join the the Isle of Man Festival of Motoring from the 17th to the 21st of September 2025. Autofahrt Manx is now available for booking to all BMW Car Club GB members. \nThe Isle of Man is a “must do” destination for all driving enthusiasts. There are some amazing drives on the Island\, with superb\, scenic sweeping bends and exciting stretches of tarmac. The famous TT circuit is driveable in either direction\, but most will take the traditional TT clockwise direction. The sections\, corners and mile markers have evocative names; Bray Hill\, Ballacraine\, Alpine Cottage\, Ramsey Hairpin\, The Bungalow\, Windy Corner and so on.  ​Where else would you see kerb-stones painted in circuit apex fashion\, black and white stripes\, in sleepy towns and villages? The road network is extensive and outside of Douglas there is very little congestion and some of the most popular drives include: Druidale\,  the route heads up the Ballaugh Glen Road past the campsite towards Ravensdale. Once in Ravensdale\, you’ll then need to take the signposted left-hand turn towards Druidale. Port Erin to Peel Coastal Road\, The West Baldwin Valley Road\, The Tholt-y-Will Road from Sulby Glen to the Bunglalow and last but not least\, the Sloc Mountain Road (A36). The theme for Isle of Man Festival of Motoring in 2025 is The Isle of Man Goes Topless. DESCRIPTION:Sunday 8th September 2024  \nThe tour starts today for those taking a ferry crossing from Dover to Calais \nIt is a Sunday so the Autobahns should be relatively clear for a speedy run to the hotel and tour meeting point.  The BurgStadt Hotel situated on the edge of the picturesque town of Kastellaun is in the beautiful Hunsrück region of Germany nestled between the Mosel and the Rhine. Kastellaun is approx. 250 miles/4 hours from the Dutch ferries\, or 325 miles/5.5 hours from Calais. Boeing 737 Simulator evening and ‘Meet and Greet’ by Simon at 18:30 at the BurgStadt Hotel. Dinner served at the BurgStadt Hotel\, in the main restaurant. Overnight stay at the BurgStadt Hotel\, Kastellaun . Camping options at the hotel’s adjacent camping site are available on request. \nMonday 9th September 2024 – Rhine Valley  \nBreakfast served at the BurgStadt Hotel\, in the main restaurant. Tour briefing by Nick. \nToday we tour the fabulous scenery of the Rhine Gorge. We will stop for a 2 course lunch (included in tour cost) at the Hotel Schloss Rheinfels\, St. Goar. The suggested route is about 80 miles and takes about 3 hours of driving taking in the Fünfseenblick\, Sankt Goar\, Burg Rheinfels\, Sankt Goarshausen\, Lorch\, the Niederwalddenkmal\, the Hunsruck hills and valleys and a couple of ferries. Therefore take your time\, stop frequently and take diversions if you want to ! Dinner will be at your leisure in one of the many small towns and villages along the Rhine valley. \n  \nTuesday 10th September 2024 – Nürburg  \nBreakfast served at the BurgStadt Hotel\, in the main restaurant. Tour briefing by Simon. \nToday we head up into the Eifel to explore the fabulous scenery around Nürburg (approximately 1 ¼ hours/50 miles via Pulgermuhle\, Bruttig-Fankel\, Ernst\, Buchel). We recommend visiting the Nürburgring museum and climbing up to the top of the castle at the centre of the village. The whole area is a petrolheads heaven so there is plenty to see\, including the compulsory picture of your car outside the BMW M Test Center. The Devil’s Dinner is a great place to hang out to watch cars brave enough to head out onto the Nürburgring. Brünnchen and Adenau are both nearby and are ideal for watching any track action. Subject to opening times (which will be published in early 2024) we hope there will be a chance in the evening for you to head out onto the Nürburgring – either in your car\, in a hired track car\, or a ring taxi. These are not included in the tour costs\, and are undertaken at your own risk. At the end of the day head back for dinner at the hotel and overnight stay at the BurgStadt Hotel\, Kastellaun.\n \nWednesday 11th September 2024 – Mosel Valley  \nBreakfast served at the BurgStadt Hotel\, in the main restaurant. Tour briefing by Nick. \nToday we tour the wonderful scenery of the Mosel Valley. We will supply some suggested routes\, however you are free to explore on your own. The suggest route is approx. 150 miles and 4 hours driving time and takes in Bernkastel\, an optional visit to the Zylinderhaus Museum\, Kloster Machern\, the new high level bridge over the Mosel\, Bullay\, Beilstein and Metternich Castle. At lunchtime we have a guided tour of Brauhaus Kloster Machern\, an optional visit to the museum (not included in tour costs) and lunch at the onsite restaurant. Today is a good opportunity to stock up with beer and wine to take home with you ! At the end of the day we head back to the hotel\, then walk into town for dinner at Altes Stadttor\, Kastellaun  \, followed by an overnight stay at the BurgStadt Hotel\, Kastellaun \nThursday 12th September 2024 – Cologne  \nBreakfast served at the BurgStadt Hotel\, in the main restaurant. Tour briefing by Nick. \nToday we drive up the A61 & A1 Autobahns to Cologne (2 hours/100 miles). After checking into the hotel we have a 1 Hour Guided tour of Motorworld at 14:00. We then head into the centre of Cologne to explore and find somewhere for dinner (not included in tour costs). It is a ten minute walk to the U5 tram from the ‘Alter Flughafen Butzweilerhof’ stop to Central Station (25 minutes\, every 10-15 minutes\, ticket category 1b Eur 3.20). Alternatively take a taxi to the town centre which should take about 15 minutes. Then back to Motorworld for an overnight stay at the V8 Hotel\, Cologne \n Friday 13th September 2024 – Terra Nova \nBreakfast served at the V8 Hotel\, in the main restaurant. Tour briefing by Nick. \nWe then take a short drive to Terra Nova to see some engineering marvels. 10:30 Visit to Aussichtspunkt – Terra Nova 1\, with coffee & cake. The tour then splits up to head home. From here it is approx. 170 miles/3 hours to the Dutch ferries\, or 250 miles/4 hours to Calais. \nFerry Crossing from Calais to Dover \nor \nOvernight ferry crossing to Harwich\, Hull or Newcastle. These routes incur extra costs and are arranged via Scenic Car Tours. DESCRIPTION:The 3 Series Register is delighted that following the successful club tour to Munich in 2022\, another tour to Holland and Bimmerfest will run in June 2023. This tour is open to all club members and all club cars. The tour is once again managed by Scenic Car Tours. By booking and paying your deposit now you lock in the costs and protect yourself against inflation and exchange rate fluctuations. The tour is designed without long drives to keep fuel costs reasonable – most cars will complete the tour on a single tank of fuel. \nDay 1 – Friday 09 June 2023 \nThe tour starts from either Hull\, Newcastle or Harwich\, arriving in Rotterdam\, Amsterdam or Hook of Holland respectively the following morning after taking an overnight ferry. Other crossings can also be arranged via Scenic Car Tours. \nRelax\, enjoy a drink and evening meal (not included in tour cost) and get a good night’s sleep in your cabin on the ferry \n \nDay 2 – Saturday 10 June \nBreakfast on ferry (not included in tour cost) \nApprox 1 hour drive to The Hague. The museum exudes passion. Each car has its own story to tell\, its own contribution to history. The motorcar is a mirror of culture. The collection is housed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague\, the city where P.W. Louwman established his Dodge and Chrysler import company. The building\, designed by American architect Michael Graves\, blends in sympathetically with its historic surroundings. The landscape gardens\, designed by Dutchman Lodewijk Baljon\, complement the architecture of the building. \nPlease free to explore the museum at your own pace. At 12:30 we meet for a light lunch and the tour Meet and Greet and first briefing. We will have reserved BMW parking\, and museum entry and lunch is included in the tour price. \n \nAfter exploring the museum drive (approx. 1.5 hours) to Den Bosch and the tour hotel\, Fletcher Hotel (Burgemeester Burgerslaan 50\, 5245 NH Rosmalen). \nIn the evening we will head into Den Bosch for evening meal (not included in tour cost). We can either drive and park in the centre or take a taxi. If you wish to make use of the excellent Dutch cycling infrastructure e-bikes can be hired from the hotel for €25 – contact the hotel in advance if you wish to reserve an e-bike. There are many restaurants in the Centre of Den Bosch. Korte Putstraat is a good street to start with. \n \nDay 3 – Sunday 11 June \nWe need to leave the hotel early as we want to arrive at Bimmerfest “largest one day BMW event in Europe” at approximately 8am to beat the queues. Bimmerfest is one of the biggest BMW shows globally attracting well over 2000 cars from all over Europe. There is always a great selection of cars\, club stands and is supported by many big names in the BMW community\, with live action\, displays\, trade stands and there is lots to see and do and has an excellent vibe. \nhttps://www.bimmerfest.eu/en/homepage/ \n \nAfter the show we will return to Hotel for an evening meal at Hotel (included in tour cost) and the third tour briefing. \n \nDay 4 – Monday 12 June \nToday starts with a leisurely breakfast at the hotel (included in tour cost). \nBy 9am leave the hotel for the 1.5 hour drive to Leiden\, nicknamed Sleutelstad (Keycity)\, which is famous for having the oldest university of the Netherlands\, rich history\, monumental buildings\, beautiful gardens and canals. \nhttps://www.visitleiden.nl/en \nWe will park at ‘Parkeergarage Lammermarkt’ (Lammermarkt 20P\, 2312 CW Leiden) at a cost of €3.40 per hour. This is the deepest car park in Holland\, 22.5 metres below sea level. Look out for the entrance near the big windmill. \n \nFrom the car park it is a 5 minute walk to ‘Bootjes en Broodjes’ (Blauwpoortsbrug 1\, 2312 GA Leiden). In other words drive straight on towards minor Lane at the end. Its a journey of 15 miles from Chipping Norton via A44. \nFrom Broadway Tower we then drive onto Chipping Camden 10 min (5.4mi) via B4081 – proper Cotswold Beauty Drive. At Chipping Camden there is plenty to see as it’s an interesting Cotswold Town. I suggest we end up at the Cotswold House Hotel & Spa Upper High Street The Square\, Chipping Campden GL55 6AN for tea/refreshments and importantly has a decent garden! \nShould be a great day out and suitable for partners and friends.
